Mary can't wait to show Jack and Mel how to make music with her new instrument, but she forgot the special hammers used to play it and runs home to get them. While Mary's away, Jack breaks Mary's dulcimer!
Plot[]
The song "Strings" is played. Mary then runs inside the clubhouse with her brand-new musical instrument, a hammered dulcimer. Mary wants to show Jack and Mel how to play the dulcimer, but Mary has Tried to remember the sticks sometimes play it. Mary runs back home to get them. Jack is excited to hear the dulcimer and cannot wait for Mary to return. Jack picks up the instrument and runs. Mel informs Jack to be careful, and Jack, believing he will, trips and falls, accidentally throwing the dulcimer into the air. In slow motion, Jack tries to prevent the dulcimer from being broken but ends up landing on the floor. The dulcimer is now shattered. Jack starts to get worried and thinks that Mary will be really mad if she finds out that he broke her brand-new hammered dulcimer. The music machine plays "What Else Have I Got to Lose?".
After the song is over, back at the clubhouse, Jack panics, running in circles. He thinks of tales to tell Mary, so she doesn't know that Jack accidentally broke the dulcimer. Mel barks, notifying Jack that fibbing will just make it worse. The doorbell rings. Jack thinks Mary is at the door and jumps on the piano to hide. However, the Schwartzman Quartet enters instead and sings, "Just Tell the Truth."
Mary returns to the clubhouse with the hammers. She notices that the dulcimer is not where it was when she departed. Jack climbs out of the piano and chooses to tell Mary the truth and apologize to her. Mary is not mad, but she is in tears and forgives him. Jack realizes that Mel can fix the dulcimer, and the trio rushes to the table, where Jack and Mary watch Mel fix the dulcimer. The music machine turns on again and Nuttin' but Stringz' "Thunder" plays. Jack and Mary are still watching Mel fix the dulcimer back at the clubhouse. Mel finds a note on the instrument. The note reads: "If your stringed instrument is broken, whether you live in Hawaii or Hoboken, just give a shout and loudly sing String String a Ding Ding!". Confused, Jack and Mary sing the magical words that make Dr. Strings (Andrew Bird) arrive at the clubhouse. Dr. Strings sings "String String a Ding Ding," fixing Mary's brand-new hammered dulcimer. They all thank Dr. Stringz as he leaves, and Mary plays the hammered dulcimer by plucking it. Jack apologizes for accidentally breaking the dulcimer, and Mary forgives him. She is sorry too.
Teenage brothers Damien and Torie Escobar (Nuttin' but Stringz) are a perfect example of the old saying, "Don't judge a book by its cover." They both studied at the Julliard School of Music and Bloomingdale School of Music and have taken their blend of classical music, jazz, R&B, and hip hop to the world-famous Apollo Theater, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and The Ellen DeGeneres Show, to name a few.
Jack does not say "See you next time!" in this episode.
This is the second and final episode where Jack hides inside the piano. The first time he did this was in Bug Love.
This is the first episode not to feature Laurie Berkner.
This is the first and only episode where Mel barks "Come in!" by himself, since Jack was inside the piano, worried that it was Mary who rang the doorbell.
