Summary[]

"The Twisty Twist" is played. Phil enters the clubhouse. Mary, Mel, and Jack are in a line watching. Phil bumps into Jack, and feathers fly around the clubhouse. On the floor, Jack asks the bird who he is, and he tells him that he’s Phil The Coo-Coo Bird. Phil stands up, noticing Jack still on the ground. Phil uses his beak to pick Jack up. Jack introduces himself, Mary, and Mel. When Jack introduces Mary, Phil is too tall to see her. Mary says "Hello", and Phil looks down and sees her. The same thing happens with Mel. Phil explains that he needs to learn "The Coo-Coo Dance", which is performed every year at The Coo-Coo Tree. This is Phil's first time performing with the birds. The four overhear the rest of the Coo-Coo birds outside the window. They look outside the window. Jack tells Phil that he knows the Coo-Coo Dance because he saw the Coo-Coo birds do the dance last year. Jack has studied the dance last year and is now an expert on it. Jack goes to the back of the clubhouse to demonstrate, calling him "Philsy-Boy". Phil thinks that Jack is talking to someone else, asking Mary who Philsy-Boy is. Jack is near Mel's drum set doing the Coo-Coo Dance. Phil sees it and says that Jack is doing the Coo-Coo Dance correctly. Phil then tries to repeat Jack, but ends up doing his spinning dance from when he entered the clubhouse. Phil bumps into Jack again, and feathers fly on screen. On the floor, Jack tells Phil that he, Mary, and Mel can teach Phil the Coo-Coo Dance. "Move Your Feet" is played. Back at the clubhouse, Phil and Mary look out the window seeing the birds. Phil is worried that he will not learn the dance in time. Jack calls Phil, calling him "Philsy-Boy" again. Phil still thinks that Philsy Boy is a whole other person, so he ignores Jack at first. Mary tells Phil that Jack is calling Phil. Phil goes to Jack, picking up Mary with his beak. Jack and Mary are at the chalkboard. There is a chair for Phil to sit on, as though he is a student at school. Jack and Mary welcome Phil to "The Coo-Coo Dance Class". Phil asks if the chair is his seat. Jack agrees. Jack explains what Phil will learn, and then, as he is telling Mel to play Coo-Coo Dance music on the piano, Phil interrupts Jack. Phil asks obvious questions, continuing to interrupt Jack. After those questions are answered, Jack asks Mel for Coo-Coo Dance music, and Mel plays the music on the piano. Jack and Mary demonstrate the first step, hopping. Phil says that he already knows how to hop, and does, in fact, hop. Unlike Jack and Mary's demonstration, however, he does not hop in place. Jack and Mary accept this and demonstrate the next step, stomping. The same thing happens, Phil stomps in place. They are getting close to having taught Phil the whole dance. However, Phil struggles with the final part of the dance, flapping. Phil is not good at flapping. He succeeds at first, but falls down. The Schwartzman Quartet enter, singing "The Coo-Coo Bird Keeps Falling Down". During the song, Phil continues to practice flapping, but falls down on Jack, Mary and Mel individually. Phil succeeds at flapping at the end of the song, and flaps toward The Schwartzman Quartet, chasing them out of the clubhouse. Jack, Mary, and Mel say that Phil has got the flap correctly, and Phil, who "can't stop because he is flapping too fast", flaps back inside the clubhouse and chases Jack, Mary, and Mel. "Who's That" is played. Back at the clubhouse, Phil gets tired from all the flapping he has been doing. He lands on Mel to take a quick rest. Jack and Mary say that Phil has now learned all three steps to the dance. Jack and Mary demonstrate all three parts of the dance, first slow, then fast. Phil starts to dance along. They overhear the Coo-Coo Birds at the tree outside the window. All of the Coo-Coo Birds have now lined up on the tree, about to do the Coo-Coo Dance. Phil thanks Jack and Mary, and before he can thank Mel, Jack and Mary tell Phil that he doesn't have time for all of that. Phil rushes out of the clubhouse. Jack and Mary watch him leave, and go back to the window. Phil is at the window. Jack, Mary, and Mel tell Phil to go to the Coo-Coo Tree. Phil flies up, and all of the Coo-Coo Birds do the dance. "The Coo-Coo Dance" is played. Jack and Mary sing the goodbye song, then they both leave the clubhouse.
